First National Bank of St. Paul
The original headquarters of the Merchants National Bank, one of the forerunners of the First National Bank of St. Paul, is located across from the Pioneer Building in Downtown St. Paul. Sixteen stories tall, the Merchants Bank Building-as it was called then-was one of downtown St. Paul's first "skyscrapers," and Grant Construction was one of the few Minnesota builders capable of handling a project of its size. It remained one of St. Paul's most visible landmarks for years. It is now the East Section of First National Bank's headquarters office.
